Hall of Fame Criteria
DACULA HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME
ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA FOR INDUCTION
Hall of Fame eligibility covers any student-athlete who has attended and graduated from Dacula High School since its inception. The HOF may also include coaches and community members. The HOF committee members are made of the Head Coach of each varsity sport, the Athletic Director, and those chosen by the Athletic Director (staf or community members).
I. INDIVIDUAL ELIGIBILITY: Individuals automatically qualify after graduation for eligibility by meeting any of the following criteria:
1. Win an individual state championship in any sport
2. Finish as individual state runner-up in the same sport for 2 years
3. Selection as Gwinnett County Athlete of the Year for their sport
4. Win an individual region championship 2 years in the same sport
5. Win an individual county championship 2 years in the same sport
6. Selected to All-County or All-Region team in the same sport for 3 years
7. Participate on an Olympic/National team
8. Athlete is selected out of high school or college to the professional level
II. CONSIDERATION FOR ELIGIBILITY OF AN INDIVIDUAL CAN BE MADE AT RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE WITH THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA AS A GUIDE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
1. Selection and/or participation in a high school All-Star game*
2. Selection to an All-State team*
3. Athlete signs a grant-in-aid scholarship to a 4-year college, a walk-on, or an athlete plays JUCO then transfers to a 4-year college (one general rule applies: athlete must compete all 4 years in that sport and earn a college degree)
4. Athlete meets criteria #3 for a sport not offered at Dacula High School (gymnastics, hockey, etc.)
*Denotes a student-athlete could win a region or county championship only once or be selected to an All-County or All-Region team once or twice (instead of 3 times) combined with being part of an All-Star game or All-State team
III. TEAM ELIGIBILITY: Teams automatically qualify for eligibility for induction into the Hall of Fame under the following criteria:
1. Team must win a Georgia High School Region/District Championship or higher 2. Team finishes in the top four in their State Championship (not by rankings but by actually making it to the final 4 in a state playoff format like football, basketball, etc. or in the top 4 in a state meet like golf, cross country, track & field)
IV. BUSINESS & COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY Businesses and community partners qualify for eligibility for induction into the Hall of Fame under the following criteria:
1. Eligibility of outstanding contributions will be at the sole discretion of the selection committee 2. Candidates must have made outstanding contributions and/or offered extraordinary services and dedication to the student/athletes and the athletic program at Dacula High School 3. Candidates not required to be Dacula High School graduates
4. Contributions must have spanned a significant period of time
V. COACH ELIGIBILITY Coaches are eligible for ballot consideration based on meeting any two of the following criteria
1. Candidate was the head coach of a sport that won a state championship in their particular team sport and/or coached three or more individual state champions in their sport.
a. Assistant coaches that worked directly with individual state champions are also eligible at the discretion of the committee.
2. Candidate served as a head coach for a minimum of 5 years AND held a win percentage of .600 or better.
3. Candidate was a head coach of the year for the county in their sport for a minimum of two years. 4. The candidate made significant positive impacts to student athletes, the school culture, AND the local community at the sole discretion of the selection committee.
5. Candidate established a sport at Dacula AND made significant contributions to the sport’s longevity and success in its foundation.
