Dacula High School Senior Awards
Cords and Stoles
Career Technical Education (CTAE) Pathway Completer – Purple Cord for one pathway completer. Purple and Silver Cord for two or more pathway completers. Must complete a specific Career and Technical Education Pathway and pass an industry End of Pathway Assessment (EOPA).
Fine Arts Pathway Completer-Turquoise Cord. Students complete a Fine Arts Pathway in Music, Theatre, or Visual Art by taking a series of 3 full credits in one fine art subject area.
Modern Classical Language (MCL) Pathway Completer-White Cord. Senior who has completed four years of the same foreign language at the high school level.
French Honor Society - Blue, White and Red Cord. Students must be in French II or higher and have attained and maintained an A in French classes and a B overall. Students must also participate in 10 hours of French-related activities each year.
International Thespian Society – Blue and Gold Cord. Recognizes, rewards, and encourages student achievement and celebrates the work of students in all aspects of theater-performance and production. Students are invited to join after completing a minimum of 100 hours of work in a combination of community service, theater classes, and production.
National Art Honor Society - Rainbow Cord, NAHS is an organization for inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. Students must complete a minimum of one semester of art and must earn an A or a B, participate in community projects, and attend meetings regularly.
National English Honor Society (Sigma Tau Delta) - Royal Blue and Maize Cord symbolizes creativity and inspiration as well as excellence and nobility of spirit.
National Spanish Honor Society - Red and Gold Cords. Students must maintain a 90 or above average in Spanish classes and have participated in 7 hours of Spanish-related activities per semester.
Tri-M Music Honor Society – Pale Pink Cord. Graduates receiving the Tri M Music Honor Society cord must be in their main ensemble (band, orchestra, chorus) for four years and have maintained an A average along with a B average in their other classes.
Beta Club - Black and Gold Cord. Students in 10th-12th grades with an overall GPA of 92 or above are invited to join. Seniors earn a cord by meeting service requirements.
Community Service Cord - Light Blue Cord. Seniors who engage in at least 400 hours of community service during their high school career.
Dacula Leadership Team (DLT) - Lime Green Cord. Selected students learn valuable leadership lessons and use their training to better the school and the activities they are involved in by creating, leading, and completing a project specifically tied to the GSLT initiative for the year.
Gwinnett Student Leadership Team (GSLT) - Blue and Gold Cord. Members represent their schools in a high-level program which exposes them to some of the same leadership training opportunities afforded to corporate leaders nationwide.
Peer Leader – Silver Cord. Students who have served as peer leaders for two years and have served our community with a high level of integrity.
Student Council - Green Cord. Student leaders who have gone above and beyond the call of service to others in Dacula High School’s Student Council.
Honor Graduates – Stole. Honor graduates have a 90 or above weighted cumulative GPA.
National Honor Society – Stole. Membership is achieved by having at least a 94 cumulative average, exhibiting great character, participating in service activities, and taking on leadership roles.
Additional Senior Recognition
Academic Letters, Lamps, and Bars – Patch. Given in the Fall semester to students who earned a GPA of 90.0 or above over each of the previous two consecutive semesters at Dacula High School. Students who have not previously lettered (in any activity) are given a letter; students who have lettered (in any activity) are given an academic lamp, students who have previously lettered and received a lamp are given subsequent bars.
All A’s K-12- Medal
AP Scholar Achievement Award – Medal. Students who has earned a 3 or higher on three or more AP exams; AP Scholar with Honor has received an average score of 3.25 on all AP exams and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams; AP Scholar with Distinction has earned an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Department Award – Medal. Each department develops individual criteria for honoring students at each grade level and overall, for performance in the subject area.
Falcon Award – Certificate. Teachers nominate students who have performed well academically and who exhibit positive traits such as strong character, leadership, and/or acts of service that impact the classroom and the school positively. Recipients of this award have accepted the challenge and have risen up.
Leave Your Mark Award - Instituted upon the retirement of Principal Donnie Nutt in 2012, this award is given to the graduating senior who embodies the spirit of Principal Donnie Nutt by leaving a positive and lasting mark on Dacula High School. Students are nominated by the faculty and then chosen by the administrative team.
Perfect Attendance - 9th-12th and K-12th Medal.
President’s Volunteer Service Award – Certificate. The Dacula High School PTSA is a certifying body for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Students must meet minimum criteria for service hours to receive bronze, silver, or gold medals. Additional information can be found on the PTSA website.
Principal’s Award – Medal. The recipient is chosen by the principal based on leadership, academic performance, and community service.
Salutatorian – Medal. Senior who has the second highest weighted, numeric, cumulative GPA in the graduating class.
SAT/ACT Achievement Award – Certificate. Students who have scored a 1320 or higher, in one sitting, on the SAT or a 27 or higher, in one sitting, on the ACT.
STAR Student – Trophy. Awarded to the senior with the highest SAT score in one sitting who is also in the top 10% of the graduating class. Students choose a STAR teacher to receive recognition as well.
Valedictorian – Medal. Senior who has the highest weighted, numeric, cumulative GPA in the graduating class.

Georgia Certificate of Merit- Certificate. The University of Georgia and the State Department of Education recognize juniors in the top 5% of their class.
Governor’s Honors Program- Certificate. A residential, summer program for high school students designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment. Tenth and eleventh grade students are nominated by teachers in subject areas and participate in a rigorous selection process.
Harvard Book Award- Book. Given to an outstanding Junior who exemplifies academic excellence and high character, combined with achievements in other fields. Selected by the high school faculty, the award aims to recognize talented students.
Principal’s Student Leader Award- Medal. The Principal’s Student Leader Award recognizes a student who exemplifies, inside and outside the classroom, a legacy of leadership and service. They thrive in extracurricular activities and pursue leadership roles to make a positive difference in their school and community.
